About Me

My name is M. Alan Thomas II. My first name is represented only by its initial firstly because my father has the same first name, secondly because it's more mysterious this way, and thirdly because is nicely sets off the "II" at the end. No, I am not going to tell you what the "M." stands for. I am generally known online as the CrazyDreamer.

I have an A.B. (Bachelor of Arts) in English Literature with a Certificate in Creative Writing on the side. I will be beginning an M.S. in Library and Information Science in the summer of 2008, and after I have that I plan to get my M.F.A. in Writing. I come from a very literary family; my brother also has an A.B. in English Literature and our mother has a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. (Our father has an M.Arch.; go figure.)

In both my writing and my literary criticism I tend to be a fantasist, focusing on the evolution of archetypes and genres, but I’ve studied a variety of other approaches as well.

I am a fandom geek with Asperger's syndrome. I am also a Regional Director for the Committee for the Advancement of Role-Playing Games (see the links page), and a member of the Roman Catholic branch of the religious left.
